6.8-magnitude quake Moalboal Cebu
6 Feb 2012
The 6.8-magnitude quake hit a narrow strait between the heavily populated islands of Negros 72 k north of Dumaguete City that put the center right in front of the resort town of Moalboal Cebu around lunchtime Monday with more than 200 aftershocks, some nearly as strong, causing further panic throughout the day.
The following intensities were felt in the following areas:
Intensity VII ? Dumaguete City Intensity VII ? Moaboal City there is NO reported damage in Moaboal Cebu but we are reading reports of damage in Negros last night view from moalboal towards Negros we saw no lights leading us to belive they had lose power we had not lose power at all
Locals here in moalboal all headed for higher ground filling buses an dump trucks as they feared a Tsunami
An a Tsunami
alerts in the Philippines are now canceled after an extended observation period of two hours. The death toll climbed to 7 this afternoon in Negros we told
My own personal experience were I was as many times on the computer working when I saw the flat screen tv begin to rock ever thing falling from shelf I saved the tv an stood in a door way as the ground rocked an roll for more that 30 sec I had seen this in LA befor an I stayed calm
I locked up the house an headed down to a local resort to see the 6 foot waves come a shore , some boat broke away from there anchors an were drifting as the waves pounded them I did see one boat over turned
I never feared a Tsunami knowing that there was only 20 k between us in Cebu an Negros conditions were not good for such a vent
We had another after shock at 12 noon today ( 7-Feb ) now the TV is tied in place with small rope , from personal experience I know there after shocks will last for a few days as the earth does whats it wants ,I tend to belive that the volcano in Negros will now once again become active time will tell
At the time of the first quake 1159 am the sea was at low tide a bit concerning to see two meter waves crash up the stairs of the resort ,at low tide watching at that time we did not know we were the center of the quake as the sea just boiled now to what has happened under the water on the reefs we will see as soon as visible in the water improves
Here we checking tree hugging just in case I am wrong about that Tsunami but I was not news about those busses they charged the locals 700 pesos for the trip one way to the hills (Big Laugh )
Im also hearing stories of people that did go only to come home an find there house cleaned out oh so Pinoy
